A multimillion rand adventure water park is being planned for the North Coast.

The world-class attraction will be a phased development at Tinley Manor, 25km north of King Shaka International Airport, and the developers have “undertaken that it will become Africa’s leading family friendly adventure park.”

It will be called Numz Adventure Island. The 30-hectare adventure island will cater for the young and the young-at-heart and there will be special zones for all ages, from a meandering, lazy river to the ultimate wet ‘n wild water pad for teenagers.

One attraction in the first phase will feature a 12m-high twisting inner-tube ride which will enable adrenalin-seekers to “go vertical with reversed free fall”. The rides are being designed, manufactured and installed by White Water West of Canada, the company behind some of the greatest water parks in the world, such as Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, and Atlantis in Dubai.

The first phase of the five-year plan will also include a golf driving range and restaurants.

Plans for the future adventure attractions are being kept under wraps for now. It is envisaged that more than 200 jobs will be created.
